PALMYRA


COLUMN

This was practical research for Walked Over based on the destruction of Palmyra, Syria. It was based on research at the British museum and used modern material to reproduce crumbling stone-like and ancient ruins and artefacts. The building units ironically mimicked breeze blocks to reproduce a minimalistic modernist character.

Below, modern objects are rendered to look like archaeological artefacts. Objects of war and terrorism - guns, grenades, knives, are combined with bones of different sizes. War and terrorism effects people of all ages. Sex toys are also used to metaphorically represent sexual violence when seen in conjunction with weapons.
